Tapestry group meets again

Our tapestry group met again yesterday at the Handspinners and Weavers Guild rooms.  Only one person brought her loom but we had plenty of show and tell.  Three of us have pieces that have been accepted into the Petite:Miniature Textiles Exhibition at Wangaratta, later in the year. (All feeling chuffed!)
You can see in the background the lovely exhibition of tapestry rugs by Anne Churches.
There will be a new exhibition put up next week.
We had a new member come. He is also doing the distance education tapestry course through SWTAFE.  He had samples to show us. It was great to be able to discuss what was happening with all our works, problems that had arisen with the weaving and how to get around them.  Many minds working together - well, a few minds. It is definitely good to have the group discussions, exchange ideas and have a social couple of hours as well.

Oh how fantastic!! (and hello to Misha!)

How wonderful to be able to meet up with fellow tapestry weavers - lucky you! ;)

Yes Michelle, it is fantastic to have someone to talk to. I don't think I could do what you are doing, not without meeting up with others doing something similar. Do you have other friends who are interested in tapestry weaving? Friends who actually weave? Friends (or just mutual interest acquaintances) who are happy to discuss what is going on in the course? I don't think I would be inspired to keep going if I didn't have the group as a sort-of guilt trip to make me think about tapestry at least once a month. The online group also gives inspiration with the annual challenges and the discussions but there is nothing like seeing and touching the works. Glennis brought along her samples that we have been looking at on your and her blogs too. So much better in reality. So I admire you determination and work ethic.

and hi to you, Michelle.

I know chatting in blog comments isn't the same as face-to-face, but I'll keep on messaging you on your blog 'cos I think a little input, even from beginners, can be a boost?

and thanks for putting up the pic, Mary!

It's both a blessing and a curse to be isolated - it would be great to be part of a group, but at the same time I'm a bit of a 'lone wolf', doing my own thing ;)

That's why I love the internet!! Yes Misha, it's great getting feedback from fellow weavers - I'm so glad there's a little internet community springing up! ;)

And no Mary, I don't know anyone who weaves!! But then again, I'm always doing stuff that people around me aren't doing, heh heh! :P
